This revitalization project preserves its mid-century architectural charm while transforming it into a vibrant hub for dining, connecting, creativity, and professional collaboration.
Originally built in 1955 as Corvallis’ JC Penney—founded by James Cash Penney and guided by the belief in Always First Quality—The Plaza has served generations as a trusted downtown anchor. In 2024, Lee Eckroth and Tony Pappas began its next chapter, transforming the historic building into a bright, welcoming place for food, creativity, and community connection.
This revitalization was supported in part by a $324,000 Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant through the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, with leadership from the Downtown Corvallis Organization.

Founded in Corvallis in 1993, Coffee Culture has been part of The Plaza and the local community since day one.
